Supporting you at the heart of safeguarding.
NADSL exists for everyone who leads on safeguarding, from DSLs to safeguarding professionals across all sectors.
We bring people together to protect children, young people and adults at risk, while strengthening practice through knowledge, confidence, skill and connection.
Our purpose is clear: to create an active safeguarding community where members can learn, share, ask questions, contribute and feel supported.
NADSL is member-funded through an annual subscription and is proudly encouraged, supported, quality assured and sponsored by Leaders in Safeguarding, helping us maintain independence, integrity and high standards.
Built for safeguarding professionals
Safeguarding leadership can feel isolating
Safeguarding leads carry significant responsibility. They are expected to interpret changing guidance, respond to complex concerns, advise colleagues, support safer culture, maintain accurate records and make sound decisions under pressure.
Yet many professionals carry out this work with limited opportunity for reflection, peer support or access to a safeguarding community that truly understands the realities of the role.
NADSL was created to help change that.
Grounded in practice
Supporting safeguarding across sectors
NADSL supports DSLs and safeguarding professionals across every sector where people need protection — from education, health and charities to sport, faith, hospitality, community and creative settings.
Wherever safeguarding responsibility sits, leaders need trusted information, practical resources and professional support. NADSL exists to provide it.
Cross-sector insight
What makes NADSL different
Safeguarding risks do not sit neatly in one sector — and neither do safeguarding responsibilities.
Children, young people and adults at risk move between services, communities and online spaces. Each setting may only see part of the picture.
NADSL brings sectors together so members can spot patterns earlier, strengthen partnership working and build a joined-up understanding of risk.
We also help safeguarding professionals recognise transferable skills when moving between sectors — from professional curiosity and risk assessment to escalation and confident decision-making.
Member-funded and not profit-driven, NADSL provides practical support that helps members feel informed, supported and confident.
Trusted updates
Why professionals join NADSL
People join NADSL because safeguarding is complex, fast-moving and demanding. They need support that is relevant, reliable and grounded in practice.
They join because:
- guidance keeps changing
- practical support matters
- safeguarding leadership can be isolating
- trusted information and training helps strengthen practice
When safeguarding leads feel informed, supported and confident, organisations are better placed to protect the people in their care.

“Ask Us” Support
Safeguarding can feel complex and isolating. “Ask Us” gives members access to trusted support when they need a second view, a sounding board or help thinking through a safeguarding question.
Cross-Sector Insight
Safeguarding works best when sectors communicate, share insight and understand each other’s roles. National guidance, including Working Together to Safeguard Children 2026, reinforces the importance of joined-up, multi-agency working, while WHO’s violence prevention work highlights the value of multisectoral collaboration.
NADSL’s Sector Lens helps members build this wider safeguarding picture by turning updates, risks and policy changes into practical prompts for different settings. It helps members understand what developments may mean for their own organisation, role and responsibilities.
This cross-sector approach supports reflection, action and safer decision-making. It also helps members spot patterns earlier, strengthen partnership working and recognise the transferable skills they bring when moving between sectors.
NADSL combines shared safeguarding learning with support that reflects the realities of different roles, sectors and UK nations.
Safeguarding by Nation
Safeguarding arrangements differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Safeguarding by Nation helps members stay alert to UK-wide themes while understanding key differences across the four nations. It supports confident, informed and context-aware safeguarding practice.
Safeguarding Supervision
Safeguarding leadership can feel complex, pressured and isolating. NADSL members can access discounted safeguarding supervision through Leaders in Safeguarding, offering space to reflect, test thinking, explore risk and strengthen decision-making.
Delivered by experienced safeguarding professionals, this service supports confidence, wellbeing and defensible practice. It is also available to non-members.
