About NADSL

Supporting you at the heart of safeguarding

NADSL exists for everyone who leads on safeguarding, from DSLs to safeguarding professionals across all sectors.

We bring people together to protect children, young people and adults at risk, while strengthening practice through knowledge, confidence, skill and connection.

Our purpose is clear: to create an active safeguarding community where members can learn, share, ask questions, contribute and feel supported.

NADSL is member-funded through an annual subscription and is proudly encouraged, supported, quality assured and sponsored by Leaders in Safeguarding, helping us maintain independence, integrity and high standards.

Built for safeguarding professionals

Safeguarding leadership can feel isolating

Safeguarding leads carry significant responsibility. They are expected to interpret changing guidance, respond to complex concerns, advise colleagues, support safer culture, maintain accurate records and make sound decisions under pressure.

Yet many professionals carry out this work with limited opportunity for reflection, peer support or access to a safeguarding community that truly understands the realities of the role.

NADSL was created to help change that.

Confident Safeguarding Practice

Practical safeguarding support that goes beyond compliance.

Grounded in practice and informed by statutory safeguarding guidance, research, inspection findings and emerging risk, we offer practical safeguarding resources, updates and professional support that help members stay informed and confident.

In partnership with Leaders in Safeguarding, we promote high-quality safeguarding practice that goes beyond minimum compliance – encouraging reflection, professional curiosity, constructive debate and continuous improvement.

What makes NADSL different

Safeguarding risks rarely sit neatly within one service, setting or sector – and neither do safeguarding responsibilities.

NADSL turns safeguarding guidance into practical insight: the association is grounded in real safeguarding practice and shaped by research, inspection findings, national learning and emerging risk.

We recognise the importance of cross-sector (and cross-nation) collaboration.

Safeguarding risks are often complex, hidden and fast-changing. We know that no single setting will always see the full picture. This is why NADSL champions better understanding between sectors – helping safeguarding professionals recognise each other’s roles, strengthen collaboration and build a more joined-up response to risk.

Beyond Compliance

NADSL helps members look beyond minimum compliance by strengthening professional curiosity, safeguarding decision-making, information sharing and joined-up understanding of risk. We are serious about quality, credible safeguarding information and constructive debate – supporting members to stay informed, think critically and continue improving safeguarding practice.

Why join NADSL?

Stay informed. Feel supported. Build confidence. Help shape the future of safeguarding.

NADSL gives safeguarding professionals access to trusted updates, peer-reviewed resources, quality-assured tools and practical support designed for real safeguarding practice.

As a professional safeguarding association, NADSL creates opportunities for members to contribute to wider safeguarding conversations – including consultations, policy development, national learning and official inquiries where appropriate.

Join a professional safeguarding association with a strong social purpose – helping safeguarding professionals go beyond compliance, learn across sectors and strengthen safeguarding outcomes with confidence, clarity and purpose.
